Chronic leg rash in Graves disease, not always pretibial myxedema

We describe a case of 38 year old female of Indian origin who presented with symptoms of Graves disease to our clinic. She had a diffusely enlarged goitre and minimal eye signs. Her T4 was 62 pmol/L(9–24), T3 9 pmol/L(3.5–6.5), and TSH was <0.01 mu/L (0.3–5.0). Radioactive iodine uptake scan revealed the presence of increased uptake throughout the gland. We describe a case of parathyroid carcinoma which is a rare, yet important cause of primary hyperparathyroidism.A 22 year old soldier was referred by army medical officer because of abnormal blood test results.
